Hitting the Streets: My Union Square Comic Selling Adventure

Last weekend, I took a bold step by selling my comics at the Union Square Market. Without knowing if it was allowed, I decided to ask for forgiveness rather than permission. To my surprise, the first weekend was a success—I sold some books and gained new fans. This past weekend was equally rewarding, reinforcing the impact of street selling on my business growth.

This experience has highlighted the importance of giveaways. I want to ensure that no one leaves my table without a way to reconnect, whether through a sample or a mini poster. This stint has emphasized the power of brand consistency. People should know where and when to find me, and I must show up every time.

Selling on the street has taught me valuable lessons about direct engagement with potential readers. It’s not just about making a sale; it’s about building relationships and a community around my work. The feedback and interactions have been incredibly positive, giving me confidence and insights into what resonates with my audience.

Consistency is key. Being present at the same spot regularly helps build a sense of reliability. People know where to find me, and this predictability fosters a loyal following. My presence at Union Square is not just about selling comics; it’s about establishing Vivid Panel as a recognizable and reliable brand in the indie comic scene.

Moving forward, I plan to enhance engagement by incorporating more interactive elements at my table. This includes setting up a mailing list for updates and exclusive content, running small contests, and offering personalized sketches or signings. The goal is to create a memorable experience that keeps people coming back.

If you’re in the area, swing by and check out my latest comics. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to Vivid Panel, there's something for everyone. I’m excited to share my stories with you and hear your thoughts.

This experience has been eye-opening and encouraging, solidifying my belief in the power of grassroots marketing. I look forward to continuing this journey, meeting more readers, and growing the Vivid Panel community. See you at Union Square!

You can find me near Union Square Park, by the George Washington statue, at the intersection of West 13th Street and Broadway. Look for the Vivid Panel table—I can't wait to meet you!
